How Long to Spend at Skogafoss

The walk from the parking lot to Skogafoss is quite short and should take you just a few minutes.
About 30 minutes should be plenty to walk around at the base of the waterfall to photograph it from different spots, look for rainbows in the mist, and just gawk at the beauty of Skogafoss.
Want to also climb the Skogafoss stairs to get to the viewpoint at the top of he waterfall? Allow 1.5-2 hours, depending on your fitness level.
There are more than 500 steps to the top, so unless you are in excellent shape, you may want to allow enough time to take it easy and pause for breaks if you need them.
A couple of hours will give you plenty of time to get to the viewing area at the top of Skogafoss, admire the views, and snap photos before retracing your steps back to the bottom. Plus, you will have time at the base of the waterfall, which offers the best full-on views.
